A new fitness trend is becoming very popular among fitness enthusiasts where all participants come together to exercise completely n*ked.
The fitness enthusiasts
A report on The Sun UK has shown that a personal trainer has come up with a cheeky new way to get people’s hearts pumping this year after she launched the UK’s first ever nude workout classes.
If n*ked restaurants and bike rides in the buff weren’t revealing enough, the new trend encourages fitness fanatics to bare all.
This month, ten brave participants cast off their clothes to take part in the first Nude-ercise class in Southampton.
Former recruitment consultant Helen Smith, 35, put the class through their paces with a circuits-style workout, which included jumping-jacks, sit-ups, push-ups and partner work.
For £8, gym goers can attend the hour-long class, which is described as “gentle boot-camp style exercise with partner games and teamwork”.
It’s clear that the unconventional trend is suitable for all fitness levels, as the first session included people aged between 33 and 70-years-old.
Class leader Helen, who is also a member of naturist organisation British Naturism, believes that removing clothes helps participants to really follow along with all the moves.
She said: “The main benefit of exercising naked is that you can really see what the instructor is doing in the exercises.
“For example, if you are doing a plank but wearing baggy exercise clothes, it is hard to tell if you have the correct form or not.
“You also don’t have to think about washing sweaty gym clothes after the class, and it’s a great way to celebrate the body.”
The fitness instructor decided she would set-up a naked fitness class after someone on a forum asked her if it was a service she offered up.
She explained: “I decided to look into it, and I couldn’t find anything else like it.
“I think I’m offering the first classes like this.
“The focus is to allow people to take part in a normal activity, but naked, so people don’t feel they are doing anything unusual.”
Before enrolling in the classes, members of the public are required to e-mail Helen to register and show an ID at the beginning of the session.
The event organiser explained: “Nothing untoward happens in these classes, and if there was any hint of that then the person responsible would be asked to leave.”
Participants are also allowed to wear sports bras and trainers during the exercises if this makes them more comfortable.
Nude-ercise classes take place in Nursling Village Hall, Southampton, at 5pm on the third Saturday of every month.
Other sessions will take place in London and across the South-East, including in Bordon, Guildford, Reading and Alton, with details to be announced on the Nude-ercise Facebook page.
